Just recently picked up an 05 c6 A4 w/ 273's, however it's a little bit too lazy off of the line for me. Been contemplating changing the rear to a 315 or 342. (This would be my first mod) I want to keep reasonable drivability and fuel mileage so I don't want to go too big. I'd appreciate any feedback from those who have had similar mods done. What kind of gains do you get and whats the cost. Thanks in advance for the responses.
Will C5 diff. work on C6? Used C5Z rear ends are an inexpensive alternative in C5's. I bought a used 500mile unit for $900.00. with hard shafts. Most used rears are in the $500. range..............Joe

I had 315's and upgraded to 342's. You'll really feel the difference coming from a 273 rear. Drivability is fine and fuel mileage is only off by about 1mpg . the performance is awsome. In my opinion this is a very worth while mod.

I went from 2.73 to 3.42. Good improvement especially in the low to mid range. You wont notice a ton of improvement at the track time wise maybe about two tenths if you race. Mileage wasnt affected that much either maybe 1 or 2 mpg.
