O.K. the manual gives a GM part# for power steering fluid, but what is it, is it AT fluid like the old days, I'm going to install a cooler and want to flush and fill and would like to go to a good high temp perhaps syn. fluid any suggestions??? THANK YOU!
Just changed mine last night.. I bought mine at the dealer for $5 for a 16oz bottle. The fluid is clear, like mineral oil..I sucked the reservoir out, and refilled to the cold mark.. It took 8oz..
Do not use transmission fluid.
GM still sells mineral oil based power steering fluid, and it is not synthetic.
Correct part number is 89020661 for a quart.

2008 Manual calls for GM Part No. U.S. 89021184. Is this the same fluid in a different container?
Flushed mine last week. It does take about 8 ounces. Flushed it 1 time, started the car,let it get up to temperature and rotated steering wheel back and forth a few times. Flushed again. I plan on doing this every year now after I take it out of storage.
amsoil make's a syn fluid, this is going to be expensive no matter which way I go......
If you haven't already picked a fluid up, dropping you a PM with info on the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program which allows customers to buy at dealer wholesale, about 25% under retail.
