Hey guys,
My FOB fell off of my key ring last night and is no where to be found. I have a replacement FOB, but that is a #2, so if I program it using the directions in the manual, would I have two number 2's? Or can I program the replacement as a number 1. Is there a way to completely change the code inside it? I dont like the idea of the lost FOB that works, in just anyones hands. Any thoughts??
Thanks
The numbers are for convenience. To get another fob as #1, you would have to reprogram all fobs, starting with a fob as #1. You can program up to 4, but only the first two will have memorized items associated.
You can use the shorter procedure in the owner's manual and add the replacement fob as the next fob, which would make it fob #3, regardless of what's indicated on the back of the fob itself. However, that fob would not have access to the memory options - radio presets, seat position, mirror positions, door autolocking, etc.
The preferred choice is to use the longer procedure and reprogram one of the fobs you have as #1 and the other one as #2. This would make the lost fob inoperable as far as your car was concerned.

I would prefer to have the lost FOB inoperable, can I do this at home, or does it need to be done at the dealer?

Some have had a problem getting the procedure in the manual to work. Here's a link to a thread on how to do it. I think this thread also has some info. either left out of the manual, or otherwise not easily found.
