Default ZO6 Header gasket part #

Just picked up some 07 ZO6 headers and cats for my 2008 LS3 M6. Can someone tell me the part number for the ZO6 header gaskets I'll need to bolt this up to my LS3? Thanks, Dewman

part #12594171 - gasket (d-shaped ports) to go between the engine block and the exhaust manifolds. You need to order 2 of those (they come in singles). I have a couple sitting next to me that I ordered weeks ago.

I used PN 12617944 and they seemed to seal well without any flow interference. I'd suggest a search and maybe discuss the differences before ordering.

Gene probably has every gasket available, but may not know the best one for your application. Although, he very likely has done several of these, apparently not everyone does it the same.

I kinda remember Powerlabs had some photos too.

12594171 - z06, 7l header gasket. If you want the part that fits the z06 exhaust manifold (between the block and the ex. mani) get two of those.

I have mine from GeneC and staring at them right now - ordered online, waited a few days for him to get them in stock and he forwarded them to me right away. I think all told about a week. Your shipping time will vary.

Stock LS3 gaskets work just fine. I reused mine and no leaks. Almost a hundred thousandts contact even with the round gaskets.

According to a previous post on the subject, the PN 12617944 gasket is specified for the LS3 truck engine. They also match the LS7 heads perfectly. I'm not a fan of reusing crushable gaskets, but some people do with acceptable results.

Just because these gaskets have different part numbers doesn't necessarily mean they are not identical. If they are from different suppliers, the part number cannot be the same.

Maybe Gene can compare this number with the LS3 Corvette gasket and the LS7 corvette gasket to see if there are any dimensional differences. I'm sure we'd all like to know.

The 12617944 are the oval shaped gaskets and they 12594171 are the d shaped gaskets and they (12594171) are the correct for the LS7.

So Gene, are the 12617944 the only LS3 number?

If you overlay the ovals on the Ds, which is more restrictive?

When I put the oval gaskets on a LS7 head, they seemed to match perfectly. Did I miss something?

I just want to know if I should be expecting leaks if they burn out.

The 12617944 is the LS3 gasket, yes. It is really not to be used on the LS7.

See this thread regarding the LS2 gaskets.

Thanks for the confirmation, but the problem here is mating the LS3 head to the LS7 manifold and being assured that it will seal and not block any flow. I'm guessing that both silvervette05 (above) and powerlabs (link) both had sealing problems due to using smaller LS2 gaskets than the manifold required.

So if the LS3 gasket matches the head ports properly and the sealing surface will be effective crushed by the LS7 manifold, then that gasket will seal well.

However, if the LS7 manifold ports are much larger than the LS3 head ports, then the LS7 gasket needs to be used to seal properly.

In either case, the gasket should not interfere with the exhaust flow.

When I visually checked the LS3 gasket to a LS7 head, my biggest concern was bolt hole placement, not port configuration, so I failed in that respect to confirm the sealing aspect.

If someone who is doing the manifold swap would take pics of the different gaskets laying on the LS7 manifold it would show which ones will work best.

I will be installing my Z06 exhaust next weekend or the one after. I'll take some pictures of the ports then if no one has posted any by that time.

I did this a few months ago and was told by many to install new LS7 gaskets to prevent any leaks from occuring, just to be safe. Several have gotten by using the old LS2 gaskets without problems but a few have also had to go in and replace them after the fact. To me it was a no brainer, use the Ls7 gaskets and no problems. I have had no leaks on the system.
