My 05 Z51 brakes squeal when first applied, the dealer says this is normal. Is it? Would installing different brake pads fix the problem? I only have 30,000 miles on the car, so I think they are the orginals.
I only replaced the fronts with ceramic pads from Autozone for less than $50 and it made a huge difference. Rears are still stock Z51 pads and not a problem, except more brake dust from those.
Also use brake adhesive on the backs of the pads so that they stick to the calipers instead of vibrating between the caliper and the rotor. The high frequency vibration is the squeal. You can get the brake adhesive in any auto parts store.
Go out and "bed" the stock pads, every so often I have to do this if they start to squeal, just did it thursday night, silent again.
What does bed mean? , i Assume break in hard. But i have the same issue and my dealer replaced my pads Same problem it never helped? It embarasing and becoming annoying someone please help before i go bald at 20.
O yeah my crack head dealership say's it normal for my car to sound like a Pinto W/ 200,000miles. well they really ddin't say that but they said the squeal is normal.
Thanks for the help, one brand of pads better than another?
