Default Exhaust Install Question

I talked to a local mechanic about changing my axle pipes and mufflers on my 05 C6 and he is telling me the job takes several hours as a result of having to drop the rear. I also spoke to several local exhaust shops and they advised that you just need to drop the rear sway bar. Can anyone tell me what it really takes to do the job. I am going from B&B Bullets to stock. Thanks!!!!

You only need to drop the sway bar.

It makes the job much easier if you drop the rear sway bar but that is really easy. 4 bolts and anyone can do it. It's a 1 hour job if it's on a lift (max). Slightly more if your on the floor with jack stands.

Just did mine a month ago on jack stands, no problem, actually did the whole system Z06 manifold back.

Obviously he (local mechanic) doesn't know much about Vettes. As stated above, only the rear sway bar needs dropped. On ramps and jack stands it took me about 2 hours on my back.

Default Dropping the sway bar.

Actually, only one end of the sway bar needs to be dropped. And, I find it's easier to loosen the front clamps and the support on the H or X pipe till you get it all positioned and aligned.

I've done a full Z06 system on mine and an NPP on an auto vert. Both not too bad. Good luck!!!

I installed my Borla Stingers (full catback) without removing anything but the original exhaust. Took my brother and I 2 hours on jack stands in the driveway.

I installed a complete Z-06 system on my 05. Had it up on jack stands front and back and didn't have to remove anything except exhaust related bolts and hangers. Pretty easy job.

How high you have to lift depends on the system you are putting on. 8-10" should do it.

My jack stands may have given me about 12"-14". Just enough room to get around and still be able work the exhaust on and off.
