Default Stock Muffler Modification

I was doing some reading on the muffler mod for the Z06 and had the great idea to mod my stock C6 non Z06 mufflers. I was all excited until I found some pictures online yesterday that show the C6 having a different muffler.

I set out to gain a little more rumble at idle a louder bark at WOT but have little to no increase in sound at highway cruse with no burble or crackle on deceleration.

I decided to mess around with the stock C6 muffler even though it is different from the Z06 version.

I gained about a 15% increase in idle rumble, about a 25% increase in WOT sound and no drone or crackle and burble.

I have attached a couple of pictures of what I did and yes I realize one patch is larger than the other it was my first one and I needed to open it up to see what I was doing.

In the pic of the open muffler you can see the main feed tube into the muffler, I took a piece of 2 3/4" exhaust tube split it and covered that tube to block the perferations.

I also would recommend you be pretty darn good with a welder the skins on these muffler are thick and have a damn coating on them making it hard to get a nice weld, not so impressed with my bubble gum welds but the skins are pop can thin, when installed because I cut the tops you cannot what so ever see patches from behind or under the car. You have to know where they are and where to look, great if you are selling or returning a leased car.

Do you have any pic's of the actual mod you did internally to the muffler? It seem's from the pic's, you are just showing what the can looks like after you open it up? Or am I just not understanding what I'm looking at? Thank's for taking the time to post your effort!

See where the can is opened the perferated pipe? I split a piece of tube and then wrapped the two halves around the perferated pipe and welded the seam. Essentially blocking the exhaust from leaking out into the packing.

2 bad there aren't more pics.
So you basically changed the perforated piping to regular piping by blocking off holes right?
So the fiberglass stuff is not getting any air correct?
