Default Should I get a retune?

After spending $1,800.00 for kooks header/cats and a vararam intake. 450 for a dyno tune. 450 for install of vararam/headers. I only got 20rwhp and 40rwtq. thats $135/1 rwhp Should I take it to another tuner for a dyno tune?

09 C6 Z51 manual

trapp

365/351 stock
385/391 after tune

Some cars dont come as rich from the factory as others and have less room for improvement in tuning.

That doesn't mean that another tuner couldnt get more out of it, but tuning these cars is NOT hard at all and if they have tuned cars in the past then they shouldnt have any issue tuning yours.

Tuning any car is basically the same getting the spark tables worked out, which is where most of the power comes from, and then fine tuning the air:fuel mixture.

Sounds about right to me. Mine only made 365 with LG's and a Vararam. Keep in mind that you will not see the V-ram gain on a dyno. Wait until your next big mod to re-tune it.

Also, different dynos read differently. A dyno is only a means of tuning.

You only picked up 20 rwhp, but you picked up 40 rwtq.

Did you ask them if those numbers were about on par with what corvettes with longtubes are dynoing?

What brand of dyno are you dealing with? On a Dyno Jet or Mustang dyno you should be in the range of 420 HP/Torque as a guideline.

something is def not right. You should pick up 20 hp with just the tune and vararam. You need a better tuner and diff shop. Plus, 365 for a 6 speed 09 is way low. Should be 375-380 atleast. If I spent all that money and thats all I got I would be pissed

That's not true at all seeing as how mustang and dynojet numbers vary GREATLY from each other.

Dynojets will give you higher numbers than mustang dynos.

Dyno Jet and Mustang #s do vary greatly. But on one or the other you should still be in the 420 range.

Don't concentrate on the end numbers but rather the delta..20 rwhp and 40tq is nothing to sneeze at. I gained 28hp/35tq with my AR header install/tune. It could be the tuner "left a little on the table" to be safe. Maybe he purposely left it a bit fat on top thinking the vararam will lean it out a bit when your on the street?
You will feel the 40tq in every day driving a lot more than the 20hp at 5800rpm..Do you have the dyno sheet to post up?

The delta IS the most important figure and 40 LBs. torque is a good gain

I think that's about twice the rwhp most get with those mods on the LS2.

Your power sounds about right for the mods you have.

I'd put it on another dyno just to see the disparity for kicks and giggles.

You made good power. Mustang Dynos read lower than dynojets. Going somewhere else is going to be a waste of your money.

dynos just give you #s, if they tuned it and installed everything correctly there is no point in wasting your money. Maybe when you're going to get something else installed like a FAST intake or something, then you can get a retune and see how much more you get

Maybe wait for a dyno day, or something similar. Most of those you can get a pull on the dyno for $40-$50..
