can a A6 handle?

From what I have read, 500-550rwhp seems to be the limit. I'm sure alot of that has to do with tire/traction/driver attitude. I have 41K and it works perfect @ 460-480rwhp, no dyno yet. I don't run a drag radial though so it is free to spin.

Plenty of WOT runs too

With a really good tranny tune and a tranny cooler I dont think you should have problems getting up to around 600-650rwhp. The convertor is one of the weak links so a better convertor will definately help and keeping it cool helps alot as well. But the Tune is as import to the A6 as it is to your engine. I have a 08 A6 Ls3 and about to install Twin Turbos and looking for 600-650rwhp.

Something less than 505hp or GM would make the slushbox available in the Z06 and ZR1.
