Default 08 C6: Throwing codes after track weekend. Please help.

After a few hard sessions, my check engine light came on. The car ran fine, so I ran the last two sessions and got home. It's throwing these codes right now when I hooked up an OBD2 scanner:

P0050
P0153
P0154
P0155

The car has long-tube headers, Corsa cat-back, and Killer Bee intake. It has been tuned and has run perfectly the past several months including two previous track weekends.

Note: It did seem to not be idling quite a smoothly as normal, but I could just be paranoid. It did seem to make a bit of an unusual pop noise every few seconds, but with my header/exhaust set-up, it's quite nasty sounding anyway.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Corey

Looks like you may have a bad O2 sensor on the passenger side forward sensor. (Bank 2 Sensor 1). All 4 codes point to the forward O2 sensor on the passenger side.

Thank you for the very quick response, Motorhead-47. If it is the 02 sensor, I would be surprised it went bad so quickly as I only have 7,700 miles on the car. I will admit they have been rather hard miles though. Can they go bad that quickly if I have 1 7/8 AR headers, no cats, and Corsa Z06 exhaust on an LS3? Why would an aftermarket exhaust system cause an 02 failure or is it unrelated?

Could I get a dealership to replace it under warranty or am I SOL in that regard?

Failed o2 sensors are probably the most common malfunction in today's cars. You should check the wire routing to make sure your o2 sensor wires haven't touched the header somewhere and melted. Hard driving can kill an o2 sensor so mileage really isn't a player here. I'm not inclined to believe your dealer will cover replacement since it is not an OEM install location (headers) and you are running a non-OEM ECU calibration. He might, but I doubt it. It's about a $75.00 part available at virtually ANY auto parts store.

You could try, but the hard driving and lack of cats likely fouled the 02's. We used to use spacers to drop them out of exhaust a bit. It worked on my old german cars, never know.

I'm willing to pay for a new sensor as my driving and aftermarket headers invariably contributed to the failure. I'm glad it's a quick fix. I did check under the car when I was putting my street wheels/tires back on and the wires didn't seem to be touching anything. I don't have rear 02 sensors as my cats are missing, so I guess the only two that can go bad are the front. I'll buy a sensor and replace it on the passenger side.

Thanks again for all of your help. If you're ever in DFW, give me a buzz and I'll buy you a few beers or coffee (if that's your preference).
