Just picked up a set, haven't been delivered yet. I've got a jack and jackstands, will that be enough to get the car up enough to do the install myself, or is a lift the way to go? Also, do you need to remove the rear sway bar to do it? If so, I may hold off and do the Z51 bars at the same time when I get them in. Thanks for input.
We did mine using a lift, however it can be done with a jack and stands. May be a little tight but be sure to use all safety measures. As far as the sway bar, you don't have to remove it, it just swings down after loosening the bolts. Good luck! You won't be disappointed.
I did mine with jack stands. Take your time and keep your cool (I had a bit of alignment and adjustment fun), and enjoy! Be sure to use good stands, jack, safety precautions, etc.
Did mine on the garage floor as well using jackstands. You do not have to remove the sway bars. Loosining the mid pipe will help fit the exaust together, took me about 4 hours but i was alone most of the time.
I had a muffler shop do my installation for $75, but a WARNING. Be very careful when you shove those pipes back over the axle. I never read about this, so I'll mention it here. It's very easy for one of those connectors to get knocked off or loose from the transmission back there. It unknowingly happened when they did mine, and next thing I knew I'm going down the road in 3rd gear (A4 trans), it's overheating, and I've got trouble codes everywhere! I was in limp mode driving back to the shop. I pointed out the one connector that didn't seem all the way down, and it was very tough to reach with a tool to pull it down. That was it. It then ran okay, but I had to have the trouble codes reset at the Chevy dealer across the highway (which they were nice enough to do for free). So take your time and be careful. It's not like those older vettes with everything up front!
