Default Veraram filter need oiling before first use?

I tried searching and found the question asked, there was never any replies. Getting ready to install and the instructions make no mention of needing to oil it for first use, but I thought I should double check and figure Veraram will be closed till Tuesday for Memorial day.
Thanks.

Mine was preoiled. Vararam has been using the preoiled green filter.

Talked to Steve at Vararam a couple of weeks ago about "cleaning" mine since I haven't yet done so. He told be after rinsing and drying the filter, to spray a light coat of WD-40 on the filter.

Thanks for the replies , hopefully the pre-cut shroud isn't as hard to install as I've read it is.

Default Should the filter be pre oiled ?

Certainly VARARAM recommends oiling them slightly after cleaning. Some
of our members dont put oil on them as they believe it will effect performance. I seem to remember DENNIS NJ our bolton record holder
commenting that HE DOES NOT OIL THEM. I am not planning on oiling mine as I believe it causes a slight restriction in air flow as dirt would rapidly collect on the oiled surface on the other hand small particulates may enter the engine and perhaps shorten engine life ?

Got a point there.

Would any light penetrating oil work or only WD-40? What is the proper procedure for cleaning the Vararam filter? Thanks Steve

personally, I would use the recommended filter oil and not WD-40. WD-40 is much thinner and I don't think it will stay around as long as regular filter oil will.

I read in another post where they said to defininitely NOT use WD 40 on the new greem filters. That's why I bought the green filter cleaning package and will clean the filter today.

Ok, I've started cleaning my green filter and these are the instructions on the cleaner and oil bottles:

1. Tap the filter or blow with air to remove excess dirt.
2. Spray the filter with Green Filter cleaner and allow the solution to soak in for about 15 minutes. Never use strong detergents, high pressure water, or gasoloine.
3. Rinse the filter with warm water , clean side to dirty side to flush out the dirt.
4. Allow the filter to dry (naturally). Try to avoid heat, it might shrink the cotton.
5. Re-oil the filter using Green Filter oil. Only use Green Filter oil, other filter manufacturers use different oils.
Never use Green Filters without oil.
Never over-oil the filter. (This may cause damage to sensors
in the intake.)
Never use motor oil, transmission fluid, or WD-40. (This
may cause problems with spark and backfires.)

End of instructions.

I agree. It should be pre-oiled.
