Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in a Canadian Speedometer versus a US speedo? I believe they switch between miles and kms but some one said a US car only shows up to 200 (MPH) and a Canadian car would show 320 kms. Further, is there a problem/difference in the bumpers...Canada requirements versus US cars.... would a US import need a speedo and bumper 'change out'?

Thanks,

Ross Priest

i think you can go to your settings and switch it between KMS and MPH because its a digital dash.

My 07 Z06 came into Canada from the U.S. 18 months ago, The speedo reads either in miles or Kms which doesn't require a modification. You will require daytime running lights which I believe is some sort of computor adjustment, no big deal. The main thing is the bumper mods which MUST be done at a GM dealer. You will get ripped for close to 2 G's for this B.S. The parts are available in the states for around 400 bucks, but the dealer won't allow you to supply and will charge aprox. $1100 for the parts, plus labour.

Anyone have pics of the differences in the bumper? If there is any visual difference.

Default speedo

Thanks for the info...so far. I understand that the speedo can be switched from reading in miles to kms...but, looking at some pictures, the background numbers read 200 on an american car while they read 320 on a car built for Canada. Do these background numbers also 'change' during the switch? If not then the seedo needle would climb faster through to the 200 and anything over 120mph would be burried while reading in kms...am I wrong in this thinking?

Thanks for the help so far and any more comment/info about this would be appreciated.

The bumpers are now rated the same as the U.S., so no need for modification anymore. Mine is an 07' from California and had to have the bumpers upgraded (internal foam) @ 2K, but the government changed the policy due to the huge volume of complaints. Check the RIV site out and they lay out all the requirements. As for the speedo, the computer calibrates it when you switch from MPH to KPH. The display will read out 200 on a U.S. Car. That will not change. The Canadian one looks a little cooler at 320K.........but it's really no "Thang"!!

Although the speedometer gauge will be limited to 200 kph, your HUD should display higher than that.
