i have an 05 a4. i keep hearing stories that the tranny wont hold any power. what are some suggestions i should do? is there anyway to beef up the tranny or do i need to get a better one
I think the stories are probably bs. I have an n/a setup with about 450rwhp and I have had zero tranny problems. I dont know how much power you plan on having but I know its good up to the amount I have if not more.
The A4 really is not that bad of a transmission. We have used them in 1k plus applications (obviously with proper work).
The real issue is how cool it stays, and how you use it. I would say anything over 400 wheel will slowly shorten the performance of the transmission. I would suggest looking in to RPM stage 4 or 5 transmission, with several upgraded parts to give you the piece of mind and performance you desire.
If you would like myself or Jeff or Eric can gladly run through any information you would like for free, just give us a call some time.
That 4L60E is a tried and true transmission with a good history. The 2005 is the only model year that had the A-4.
The rest of the C-6 Corvettes went to the A-6.

Wouldn't a fully synthetic fluid like Amsoil or Redline help keep it cooler than the factory fill of Dexron 3 which was the factory fill back in 2005 which I believe is not synthetic along the new Dexron 6 they use now?
