Default Power coat Question PART TWO

For wheels, trying to decide between Black Grey (almost black), Archalite Grey (little lighter, like charcoal) and Slate Gray (lighter still)

this is going on my lmb vette.

The complication is that in choosing a custom color other than black, I run two risks: 1) people thinking it's just a faded black and 2)not being able to get the right mix for handpainting the calipers.

Do you recommend just going straight black? I feel like every damn person has black, and if I wanted black I would just buy black wheels. Since I'm getting them powdercoated, this is my chance to go custom.
I always liked the comp grey wheels, but thought going even darker would look sick. Opinions?

Also...I want the perforated chrome side grill inserts powdercoated the same color as the wheels. How do I remove these? I had the dealer install them, but don't want to go paying for the removal and reinstallation. Is there an easy way??

I would just powder coat the calipers the same color as the wheels. Its your vision, make it the way you want and be happy.

This is not my car, but heres an idea of what flat black would look like. Flat black tends to have a greyish look to it compared to gloss black, and that seems to be what you are looking for.

Personally I would vote non of the above.

<--Not a fan of the flat black/Gray wheels on the blue cars

I think the black chrome looks a little grayish sometimes when you look at it at certain angles. Good luck whichever way you go. I did the semi black on my black C5 and it was a nightmare because of the powdercoaters. Hope you got a good powdercoater.

Thank you for the pics, I think the flat black does look a little greyish and is sort of what I'm going for. Maybe even a tad lighter, since in those pics the sun is shining bright, so at night it would look totally black. I am not a fan of totally black wheels, but something close and custom would stand out to me.

thanks man, you're right, but fortune is not with me, and I don't have the money to powder coat the calipers at the same time.
I will have to try hand painting, and see how it goes. If it looks really crappy, cheap or flakes on me, I will eventually get the powdercoat I want on it, but for now I'll try my hand and get some experience

That car is LOW! No way I could ever get mine that low what with San Diego hills and potholes.

I swear they hired a bunch of drunk mexicans who never paved before to pave all the roads here. It's absolutely ridiculous.
