Well, I put up a post a while ago about the extreme amount of squeal I was getting from a set of HP Plus pads on my 09 C6, the pads were sold and installed by a high performance shop, when I picked up the car I was told that the squeal was just the nature of the pads, I did ask the tech if he used the grease that came with the pads, he told me that is not necessary and he did not. the car squealed so bad that I could not drive it at all, I took out the HP Plus pads and I put the OEM back in, no squeal with the OEM, I then called Hawk, a customer service guy named Chris mailed me 2 packets of their grease, I then put the HP Pluss pads back in using the grease between the back of the pads, amazing!! No squeal. Yes the Hawks dust quite a bit, but stop great, and did I say no squeal? I noticed that Hawk's grease remained thick and did not harden up into a silicone like product as does CRC brake grease, both are pink in color and look alike, does anyone know if auto part stores carry the non-hardening silicone grease? Needless to say I am now very happy, if your brakes are squealing redo the install with the grease.
I just did mine today (Hawk hp not plus) and am hearing a little noise similar to when you EASE off the brakes. It only does this when comming to a dead stop. Does yours do this too??
No, not really, when I first put them back in with the grease I did, only just prior to stop.
I went to the track Sat, car stoped great, of course a day at the track is an over the top bed procedure, since then not a sound! I am actually going to leave the HP Plus in for a while, track day scheduled for the 20th of this month. Real happy so far, yes lots of dust, but I knew that going in, I have a set of ceramic waiting to go in after the 20th.
