Default 2009 C6 LS3 is too Quiet

My 09 LS3 is too quiet , I am not looking to replace the whole exhaust, but rather the mufflers. I have installed Flowmasters on my other cars & trucks with awesome results. Any other suggestions & by replacing the mufflers would I have to re-tune the motor?

DO NOT GET FLOWMASTERS!! they will drone and you will hate your life. The npp he is refering to is the variable exhuast that comes on the newer vettes that opens up under WOT and makes the car louder. You can buy a kit that opens them all the time. Or you can purchase an axle back system like corsa or B&B etc. I personally recommend corsa as I have them and love it (after coming over from flowmasters).

I've run BB Bullets, BB fussions, and now finally the NPP's, it was expensive to try them all
but I really enjoy my NPP's, no Drone at all!!!!

The dual mode NPP's can be ordered with the car(since yours is an 09), but since you obviously don't have it on yours, there are aftermarket kits for it. Just do a search, & get the mild to wild switch as well which is about $100 ( a remote that lets you keep the baffles open all the time if you wish) & you'll be good to go.

After owning numerous V8 cars and different exhausts, the NPP absolutely rocks. Perfect at idle, no drone and super above 3000.

I agree....I love the option to shut the sound down when you don't want it...(mild to wild remote) I have kooks headers and they sound great...but I would not want to live with it on a long cruise. npp gives you both worlds.

I really wasn't sure if it was worth the extra money for NPP when I got the car but I haven't regretted it one bit! Such an amazing factory exhaust, I don't know of any other one like it.

all of you guys must be old as the hills. Because every car ive had, i wanted super loud... ALL OF THE TIME!! The NPP should stand for "nappy pappy plugs" b/c a 6.0L should be loud at all costs.

i'm pretty pleased with the sound im getting from my 05 right now. i got long tube headers resonators and xpipe. right where the muffler connects to the x pipe i sawed the pipe that connects from the muffler to the xpipe. then i clamped a down pipe to my xpipe. after doing so the muffler was no longer supported. for that you will need muffler straps to make sure they're nice and secure. the car sounds nice when im cruising down the road. its not obnoxious but still sounds like it has some work on it. give it a good punch and it becomes a monster. there are different sizes and materials for your choice of piping to help you get the noise that satisfies you. other than that i'm going to agree with the mild to wild switch as that also works. lastly if you like deep gargly noise try some headers cam an exhasut. imo its music to my ears but LOUD!!

Regarding the NPP's. I purchased a complete 2007 ZO6 exhaust system which included the ZO6 npp mufflers. Prior to that I had the Corsa Sports with the oem x-pipe. They are louder than the ZO6's with the flaps open. However, I do enjoy the deeper rumble from the ZO6 h-pipe.

So, researching I found that alot of forum members that have the npp's have done the muffler sound upgrade. You cut a 7"x7" panel out of each muffler remove the sound deading material then wrap the preforated exhaust tube and weld it in or use muffler clamps to hold the sleeve in. Weld it back up sand it down then spray it with heat resistant black paint and reinstall. Results a solid 30-40% sound increase when you have the flap open. Cost averages out to ~ $250. Benefit: it's quite when you need it and nice and loud when needed. This is my next mod after I get the car tuned for the ZO6 exhaust system. Thanks, Dewman
