newbie questions on mods
Hey all its the newbie again, asking a ton of questions......
My 08 coupe came with the standard corvette radio fm\xm, etc. I want to replace it with the NAV system. If I use another bring like Alpine or Kenwood do I loose any other functionality? I mean will onstar still work, does the OEM NAV\radio show engine stats or anything?
Q #2... is it possible to get the HUD installed? I dont have the bose speakers though, is that a showstopper?

If it's not a GM OEM radio/Nav, you lose the ding sound when invoking memory options and DIC options. You also probably lose the ding from the seat belt warning.
OEM radio/Nav doesn't show engine stats.
Bose speakers don't have anything to do with the HUD.

You should post this on the Audio/Electronics Forum, you'll get some advice from the experts.
The HUD install seems pretty involved but a NAV install is more common. There are a variety of interfaces you need to add to the aftermarket NAV to maintain the OEM functions.
With OEM NAV and HUD you get arrows in the HUD directing you from the NAV. This is one function that is not available with any aftermarket NAV.
Most aftermarket NAV's offer quite a few improvements over the OEM as they have continued to develop the technology. IPOD control for example.
Do your homework, this is an expensive proposition. Good Luck.
