Default Cheap Muffler suggestions?

Ive searched and searched but its hard to find just muffler replacement posts. I used to have Bullets but the drone got very tiring after the 6 months they were on the car. Now I miss my exhaust sound. I want something a little more timid then the bullets but dont feel like forking out the 600+ for a used kit.

Has anyone just changed the mufflers on the stock pipes? I could care less about performance I just want a little more noise. Thanks guys!

I had Magnaflow mufflers welded on and later switched to NPP so I could close the system. However, I liked the Magnaflows, and the total cost for mufflers and installation was about $300. Sorry, but I can't remember the part number.

Have you considered using Z06 mufflers? They show up on the C6 parts for sale section frequently. You can purchase the npp controll unit from Nakid Parts or Sunset Orange Creations, both are forum vendors. Then ya got the best of both worlds.

flowmasters are only around $400 for the full axel back with tips. I heard they sound pretty nice. There are a few people that have welded magnaflows here for $300ish, but i think the flowmasters are a better choice considering you get nicer/bigger tips included. Supposeably the drone isnt too bad with them either.

I wouldnt go there. The tips look cheap IMO and they drone like a **** if you have an auto. I would go Z06 probably as youll get better sound for probably the cheapest price.

I did the NPP after trying several systems, I really like them when open, they sound great and no drone, open or closed!!!
the Zo6 mufflers had issues with room over the axle with my A6

You can also do the muffler mod to these mufflers. It sounds bad. Did mine a few months back.

I did Z06 and they are GREAT! I had done a Magnaflow system and the drone was not acceptable ... IMO. Any system that sounds good and CANNOT be switched to a "closed" system is going to drone! Again, IMO. Z06 is far more affordable and the difference between that and NPP is probably not that big, considering cost. Plus ... Z06 tips are bigger. I think NPP folks downplay the Z06 because of tip envy!

I thought about doing the muffler mod, but just bit the bullit and installed the B&B Fusions w/Corsa X-pipe. I still got the stock exhaust.

Bad as in "this is bad ***" or bad as in "doh, this isn't good"?
