Default Cannot turn interior lights off!!!

I am down in Florida. Put my car in a hot garage and now I cannot turn the mirror lights or the dash lights off.

No matter what I do, the mirror light switches do not work. The outside lights still go off automatically

I do not know if the heat did something or not.

I put my car outside to cool off but I don't know if that will work.

Any ideas. Has this happened to anyone else with a C6?

If I disconnect and reconnect the battery. What goes off first negative or positive and what do I attach first.

Thanks
Alan

This is quite common and is posted almost weekly, and it is not heat related.

There is a small **** located by your left knee, it is the dimmer and when it is pushed in it toggles the interior lights on and off.

Give that a try- Good Luck

Get in the car, close the door, be sure the map light buttons are both pressed in (off position).

Press in and release the dash dimmer button that's near your left knee. Get out of the car and shut the door. Lock the car or wait for the autolock if you have that set. Watch to see if the map lights go out. If they do not, then the previous time you pushed the dimmer button worked and you just didn't wait long enough. If that happens, get back in the car and repeat the process one more time.

Get in your car. Close the door. Wait until the interior lights go out (or don't). Then push the round button next to the leftmost AC vent next to the driver's door. That will "toggle" the lights. Push it and release it. Don't push it and hold it in. I can't make it any simpler than that.

You need to ensure the map lights are pressed in (off). You don't need to start the car. You need to wait until the lights go off (give it some time, around 30 seconds) or if they don't then push the button again. Don't turn the button. Push it and let it go.

Normally, when you get out of the car with the map lights in the "OFF" position, they still stay on until you lock the car with the fob or until the autolock takes place, if you've got that set. Then, they slowly dim and go out after a few more seconds.

Why would you expect those lights to got out immediately when you pushed that dimmer button?

Do what I told you above in post number 5.

Default Finally Fixed Problem

After more than an hour trying to resolve the problem and not succeeding I went to sleep still with the interior lights on.

It just did not make any sense that nothing I tried worked.

I could not sleep. I just bugged me. The car had been so reliable until now so I went back for one last try.

I decided to take out the owners manual and see if I could find a solution.

I went around to the passenger door to get to the glove compartment. Then the problem became obvious! My wife had left her door open just a touch. Not enough to be seen from the drivers seat but enough to keep the lights on. The warning display was already informing me that I needed an oil change so it did not display that a door was open.

All this stress and there was a simple solution!

My wife must be out to drive me crazy. She always said she loved the car. I never let her drive it. You think she was trying to get even or was it just an accident?
