Default halltech killer bee

I just installed a killer bee on my 08 a6. It seems to pop at idle. Never did before. I feel no difference in power. Money wasted?

If you got 12 horses(and that's a big IF)..... you're not going to feel it in the seat of your pants. What you really need is simply cold air, and most tuners will want a cooler thermostat. There are cheaper ways to get cold air without changing the intake. Unless your going bigger cam and such....the intake and exhuast on your Vette is adequate. You will get something from it, but I think you will be disappointed with how much... for the price.
Just my opinion, tho.

My 08 manual has the Halltech Killer Bee/ Beehive shroud with the open cold air cut outs at the bottom of the shroud. Occasionally, my idle fluctuates about 25 rpm, but no popping. When I first installed the intake/shroud, I felt better throttle response throughout the rpm range. Then GM updated the ECM software and between 2000 - 3500 rpm the throttle response seems to be less responsive. It feels like it wants to bog at WOT. I installed the stock intake and the throttle response felt more responsive between 2000 - 3500 rpm, but above 3800 the Halltech feels a little stronger. I asked GM to reflash the ECM back to the original program, but they cannot do it. Damn GM, I thought the ECM update was for enhanced diagnostics. Apparently, fuel trims changed and the car is either running richer or leaner at the 2000-3500 rpm range. I am thinking of installing back to the original intake with the cold air cut outs left open. Anyone else experience this?

Having the ECM tuned will void the warranty, my other option is buying an second ECM and have that tuned.

Is there much of a difference than the factory intake? I have heard that the factory intake on the '08+ are pretty good.

I had a Killer Bee installed on my six speed and it didn't pop. Waste of money, yep....it's sitting in the closet as I wasnt' will to go the extra mile to spend more money and mod to get some cold air.

Typically it is going to be worth it if you mod the exhaust as well, and then a tune would be even more helpful. A tune can help with just an intake if there are dead spots like others mentioned.

I plan on a diablo tune soon. Ran a 12.7 Sunday on a 95 deg. day and 115 deg track here in deep south La. Pretty happy with that.
