Default Shop abuse!!

After 7 long months of waiting to get my C6 Z06 back.....I took it to a shop in Dania Florida for a head and cam job some exhaust and forged pistons and 7 months later I just picked it up. They kept getting metal debris in the oil. I took it to another tuner and found the metal in the oil has come from the fact that the idiots put the diamond pistons and rings in the car from right out of the box. They did not know that "file to fit" rings meant you have to file the rings to get them to fit properly. The oversizing of this caused scratching of the cylinder wall and damage causing debris to get into the oil supply damaging 3 oil pumps, 2 oil coolers, this will be the 3rd set of pistons and not to mention all the time and money I have out into this!!! 7 months!!!! I want to hear from you. If anyone else out there has had problems with this or similar shops lets hear about it!

that is absolutely rediculous. if they are a performance shop they should only be using file fit rings and second they should be gapped to the thousandth as per your application. i am not at all suprised hearing this after hearing some of the products some of the "big name" tuners are putting in these motors

I had a problem with a body shop and got the California Bureau of Automotive repairs on them and the insurance company.
You are in a different state so check your consumer laws. Good luck you would be surprise to hear about the scams that go on.

I'm glad to hear that you finally got your car back. Have you talked with the shop and tell them how your problem was fixed? You spent or wasted would be a better word, a lot of money and time, I would be curious to hear how they respond. I would ask them for some of your money back. The worst they can say is no, but if they realize what would of mouth can do to a business, they would be wise to try and make things right.

I am glad you picked your car up. My suspicions were correct...things were only going to get a lot worse.

I have asked for a partial return of my money. Enough to cover the expense of fixing it right. I will let you know there response as my attorney says to do it in writing. I also have in my mind to take them to small claims court if they do not. I am able to sue for $5000 in small claims in Florida.
I did tell them if they simply paid me the money they would never hear from me again. I am sure they are tired of me as well.

As for the parts used...They were all top notch because I told them the name brands I wanted. They used diamond pistons (not sure about the rings) and ACL bearings. Kooks headers...oh and they did not ceramic coat them even though they sold them as ceramic coated.

7 months without a car? I need to know the name of this shop so that everyone here knows never to go to them. We NEEd to establish a bad vendor list ASAP!

I think you posted before and had your thread removed, right? I've now figured out (probably) who was doing the work. That's a pretty awful situation you've described.

Yes I did post before but as soon as people started guessing the shop the thread got derailed and removed. I have to ask you all not to guess who the shop is but if you know or think you know send me a PM and I will tell you. I tell everyone until the day that the shop makes good. I have sent them a letter asking them to pay the $5000 it will cost me to have another shop fix my motor right. The day they pay up is the day I will stop bashing them on the forums they are supporters off!!! Thanks for all your support out there guys. Until the day comes when they pay up. I am afraid that my 2007 Z06 will be sidelined!

Default Pics of their damage

This is with out a doubt damage from the shop taking the pistons and "file to fit" rings right out of the box and not filing them to make them fit!!! The ring end gap has not been filed or ground to size and the pistons and rings were installed right out of the box. The damage that they can not figure out is coming from the rings and pistons scraping the inner wall of the cylinder wall and filling the oil with debris. That is why after 7 months they can not get it right and my only hope was to take it out of there and have it done elsewhere. However since I paid them for the job they could not complete they SHOULD give that portion of the money back to me so I can go get it done by someone who knows what the hell they are doing!!!
Listen guys its not even JUST this. This shop is so full of ****. The headers they installed on my car are kooks headers. It says ON THEIR WEBSITE it is there own brand of headers that are fully ceramic coated! The headers on my car were never ceramic coated so the heat is unreal!!!! Just another Lie!!!!!

The piston to wall clearance is off in left field. They should be .004 to .007. You will have to check with the company that sells you a new set of pistons where to measure and what they like to see for clearance.

Out in left field is accurate as these guys after 3 attempts clearly dont know what they are doing. I think you would have to agree that I am a patient man (waiting 7 months and 3 attempts) but if they can not get it right I have to now go to the next step and push back.

Thats ridiculous, they should not only give you back any money you spent with them, they should be buying you a new motor. Then they should close their shop until they have competent people doing the work.

I agree but its a stretch to think they are decent enough to give a part of my money back.
As for them closing....this is a huge shop and a supporter of both this forum and DC and they have a large corvette club following. I dont understand how!!!

That being the case I would paste their name everywhere until they resolve it to your satisfaction. They wont do anything until it starts to hurt their pocketbook. It really is too bad that people choose to conduct their business that way. Wonder how they would feel if it was their car and money.

I dont want to give the shop an slander charge to throw at me. At this point I am doing everything on the up and up hoping they will come around and do the same.
