Default Bolt ons

Have a 2008 coupe AT and wondering what are the best bolt ons to make. Thinking about exhaust and cai possibly( not vararam as I see a lot of problems listed on this forum). Live on Jersey shore and would like to know of any places that do these changes or could I do them myself. First vette I've ever owned and happier than a pig in @#*&. Thanks.

Are you looking for power or sound? The Exhaust will definately make the car sound better but you will pick up little if any power. Also the new design of the Vararam is much better than the old ones and I would reconsider it. I think it works the best due to the actual cold air it pulls in, not sure how much the ram air affect has. For the money I suggest Headers and a Tune.

First question you need to ask yourself is do you want to give up the Powertrain warranty? If you don't mind doing that then you can combine your mods with a tune which will give you the most out of what you install.
If you want to go without a tune, then CAI..Halltech, Honker, BPP, and K&N all make good Air intake systems. With the Halltech & K&N you will have to come up with a way to get the cold air to the filter. Either the VetteAir or just propping open the shroud will do it. There can be some low rpm drivability issues with cold air and the less restrictive filter. The LS3 MAF is sensitive to air flow turbulence. CAI's don't gain much as the 08's OEM filter system is pretty good. If you retain the OEM filter assy, you can purchase a ZR1 filter for around $100..Its not a proven mod, but sources say it outflows the LS3 and LS7 filter.

I would do headers. AR's install easy and give good power. It is something you can do yourself, but have to be tuned to get the most out of them and to eliminate the rear O2 codes. Those and a CAI system and a tune and you will probably get better than +30hp/30 tq.. Throw a ported TB into the mix and you will also get better throttle response..

Part B of your plan should also consider tuning the TCM, the module that controls the A6. But, before doing that read the first line, because again possible warranty issues..
Almost everything I have written about has been discussed at length some time or the other. Get good at using the search button...Good luck with whatever route you choose. Enjoy the car and don't forget to wave..

So true. THE OP didn't say in his post if his car is Z51 or optional 2.73 gears.
