Default Lowering Bolts for C6

I am trying to install the new spring lower bolts and there is too much tension between the spring and the control arm. Are you suppose to completely drop the lower portion of the suspension to allow the bolt to easily unthread from the spring?

c6 lowering bolt installation instructions

vehicle must be in the air on jack stands or on a lift in order to do this installation.
once car is suspended you can start with the front suspension. First remove lower shock mount bolt. Then remove lower ball joint nut and drop the lower control arm down to allow access to the spring ends. Remove existing spring bolts located on each end of the spring by using a 10mm socket or wrench. Replace them with the new supplied bolts. Once they are installed you can raise or lower the suspension by turning the bolts in or out. We usually screw them in leaving a 1/2”-3/4” between the large attached washer and spring, depending on your desired ride height.
the rear suspension bolts are installed by using the same procedure.
once you are finished and suspension components are replaced, you can make adjustments by simply raising the end of the car that needs adjusting and turning the bolts up or down.
a four wheel alignment is reccomended once you achieve a satisfied ride height.

put a jackstand or the acutall jack under the spring to lift it up slightly. This will relieve the tension on the spring and save you a lot of dissasembly and reassembly time.

Don't laugh, but I fount "covers" for my bolts. You cut the rubber off and put the covers over the flat spot to act as the bearing surface. So far, so good, but my car is not a daily driver.

I found them on Ebay by accident when I found out how much work it was to install the bolts I bought.

I have removed several adjuster bolts and never been able to get one out without dropping the lower control arm.
Those suggesting that the OP do that, did you actually remove an adjuster bolt without unbolting a part of the suspension? Fess up!

ONLY unbolt the upper control arm on front or back. I found out the hard way myself to not ubolt the lower because that is the camber adjustment

You can separate the ball joint and not remove the control arm at all.

Very true but since I was going to have the car aligned it didn't matter.
The lower control arm seemed easier than the upper one for some reason.

Also true but after beating on them for 10 minutes I gave up and dropped the control arm.

To get the stock bolts out of the rear in my car I unbolted the upper control arm completely at the frame, the upper mount of the shock, and the swaybar endlink. That gave me enough extra down travel on the lower arm to get the bolt out. I too did not want to mess with the camber by unbolting the lower arm. It is possible to get an aftermarket lowering bolt in without taking anything else apart, but the stock one won't come out that way.
