tire sensors settup
However, the TPMS can't imagine that all 4 sensors will fail at the same time. If you replace all 4 sensors without doing a relearn procedure with a tool to register them, the TPMS will take approximately one hour before it finally decides that the problem must be with the TPMS and it will give a DIC message of "Service Tire Monitor". BTW, the one hour must be approximately one solid hour of driving without shutting off the ignition.
When the car sits for more than 15 minutes the sensors go into the sleep mode and only transmit once per hour to save the internal batteries. The TPMS knows the last reported pressures, and when you start the car that's what it will display - until you drive faster than 20 mph and the sensors wake up and start sending new pressure info.
So.....you're reading the last known pressures and your TPMS is waiting to get new pressure reports from your sensors, but because they aren't registered the TPMS will never get new pressure info. If you drive for an hour you'll get the "Service Tire Monitor" message.
