You have the exhaust and airaid system already on the car, if the programming is stock you would notice a nice gain just by getting a tune from a reputable shop, should pick up around 15-25 at the tires.
Also mentioned already, don't look past the tires on your car.
IMHO, the best bang for the buck for a bolt on is to install a Z06 manifold, cats, and h-pipe (or a 3" x-pipe). I found a used 08 Z06 manifold, cats, and h-pipe with 3K miles for $450. A reducer is used to connect up to the 2.5" C6 mufflers (I have the Corsa Sport) however another option is to install any 3" muffler ie. Z06, Borla, Corsa etc. for any M6 C6. It can be done on an auto however the passenger side might need some modification to get the 3" pipe to fit over the axle. On a side note you probably won't have any problems passing smog which is a major reason why I did this mod living in California.

i see your from St.Louis. i actually flew into St.Louis to pick up the car and drove it back to NY. it was like a hundred degrees there, but i digress.
i do believe it is on stock tune. what should i be looking for in a good tune to get a few more ponies at the wheels?
The C6 that I have purchased and am impatiently awaiting to pick it up already has a Bassani cat-back on it. I have since ordered a Halltech intake, and I am looking to do a under drive pulley and Kooks LT w/off road X-pipe. Then with a tune I am hoping to get somewhere around a 60-70hp increase. If I can get the funds together I will do the rear and put a set of 4.10 in it.......
To OP, I had a 3000gt VR4 as well before I got the C6 and was having the same problem with tuning, turbos, fuel etc... All I can say is that the C6 is a much more bolt on friendly car, good luck with your transition!
