My mate came round to listen to the LG longtubes I have on my C5. He loves em and wants a set of headers for his car. When I got mine done, I had the car tuned as well, and it came out very well. Makes the power I need, and runs great.
My buddy tells me that if he gets the C6 tuned, it'll void the warranty. I don't know about installing headers sans tune, but if it would void the warranty to do so, he'll certainly not do it. Any truth to this? Or can my friend get his headers and have his warranty too? Thanks.

If your buddy installs headers, his powertrain and exhaust warranty are gone.
If he tunes the car, he runs the risk of having his warranty voided as well, though that is harder to detect.
Bottom line: if your buddy cares about his warranty then he shouldn't mod the car. If not, mod away.........
The headers will depend of the dealer. Check with the service adviser. The dealership I used didn't care about headers. They even did the install.
Good advice but there could still be a problem. If there is a warrany issue that requires the district rep to check out the car he can void the warranty. My service writer told me they can overlook a lot of modifications but when the district guy comes around all bets are off.

My servicing dealer did all my warranty work without any question, and I had my blower and headers installed within 6 months of buying the car new. The flip side is that was 3 years ago and these are much different times.

When I was planning my supercharger install the service manager told me it would void the powertrain warranty. Of course I already expected that.
when i had to replace the engine in a 06Z it had headers, CAI and drag radials and GM said replace the engine under warranty those mods didn't cause the engine failure (broken valve spring) you can get away with alot of mods aslong as its not internal engine. some dealers are **** about it and try to void you warranty because they think you'll pay out of pocket to have it fixed there.
I have a cam in my car, got lucky and dealer works on car with no problem. Was straight up with them when i brought it in. Thought for sure i would be shot down. Guess i was lucky.

You are certainly fortunate. Some dealers look for any excuse to void your warranty, especially now.

When I did mine the service manager which I have known and dealt with for 20+ years told me he would service the car no matter what I did to it. The chances I could pull that off again would be slim to none.
