Default Headers causing the problem??

I have been having a problem with my car since having the heades installed by the dealer. I have been having my Active Handling come on at 5k to 6k rpms ONLY. Also airbag sensors dying. The dealer is stomped by this. I turned to a ABS specialist that I looked up in on the net. Thier opinion was that the header heat is messing with the AH/Airbag sensors causing it to go nuts.

What do you guys think? I know that many have had zero issues with thier headers..etc...etc but I'm fresh out ideas.

FYI .. I did the steering clip, got tires, tpms, tunning, replaced an EBCM.

Something....

I will assume the headers are uncoated? There was another post by someone who had the service active handling message after installing headers so there may be something to it.

Make sure there is no wiring close to the headers. Maybe a harness came loose during the installation.

Have the dealer reflash your ECM, TCM, BCM then go from there. Cant hurt.

I had this happening to me even with the factory plugs and wires. I then put MSDs on and ngk t55s later. One wire felt loose but clicked on. HP sales in pompano checked them and said that they were fine.

Clicking but feeling loose is that ok? Could a loose plug wire really cause this?

Yeah they are uncoated but LG themselfs said that it should be cooler than with stock manifolds. I belive the only member that I read with this happening to him is SMOOVE. I have sent him PMs but he has been inactive on the forum for about 2weeks.

Is that who you were refering to?

YES! the factory wire's are crap!!!!! I had a bad miss and it turned out to be the wire's, all tight, all tested the same{good} for continuity, thought I had a bad lifter, put the MSD's and a set of NGK's THE CAR HAS NEVER IDLED/RAN THIS SMOOTHLY!!!!!!

A loose plug wire will give 2 codes, cylinder (fill in the number) misfire and service active handling. Had it happen to my car when a factory plug wire fell off the coil. Replaced them with MSD's.

I had it happen to me with the factory wires.Dont know if they were on tight or not, you know they have that metal on the end. I then replaced them with the MSDs alon with plugs. The MSD cable is the one that feels like its loose but clicks and was inspected by HP sales.

After ther dealer put in a new EBCM the "service active handling" message hasn't come on BUT active handling still come on at 5 to 6k rpm WOT(ocasional airbag light though they). All yaw/tc sensors and airbag sensors have been changed but still.

oh, wait

Thats a little better.

No missfires by the way.

Thanks
Rod

That sounds right. I was wading through header threads one night and remembered reading about a couple issues. It actually made up my mind to go with coated headers just to be safe and for the underhood temp benefits.
