Default 157 degree temp. with new tstat ...

A few weeks ago I got a mail order tune and I install headers with
a X pipe with Z06 muffler and a M2W and a CAI.. the tuner supplied
a 160 tsat but when I run on the highway my temp is only 157 so
I`d like to change it,I sent an email to the tuner with no response for
now...could somebody tell me the part number for a new tsat !
I`ve search for some but they are for a LS1, I need one for a LS2
maybe there the same ? Mr Gasket 6367 is that a good number!
Thanks alot !

Did you test the thermostat in hot water to see the temp it really opens at? What temps do you see around town and in traffic?

It definitely sounds like your thermostat is messed up. I have a Lingenfelter 160 Thermostat and it runs at around 172 on the highway. Part #L310015204.

No I did not test the tstat before I installed it...
The highest temp I have once seen in traffic is 172,It`s usually
always at 157 no matter what kind of driving !

I`m I leaving HP on the table and can I hurt the motor with that low ?

If you do test it, use a pan full of coolant, not water. Also be aware that a 160 thermostat will just barely be open at 160 degrees, and may not be fully open even at 180 degrees.

6367 is the right one, should cruise @ 175 to 185.

Most 160 STATS run around 180 which is desirable. You should test it
or at least have someone test it. On my 160 I on occasion I get up to 194
in traffic on a hot day.

Another thing we forgot to mention here is that the fan speed should be programed in. Yes that is very important and maybe your fan is running all the time to stay at 157 ?

Several others have reported in the past that the Mr Gasket stat runs around 160, while the Moto-Rad brand, as sold by many suppliers, run around 180 at cruise.
I'd swap it out for a Moto-Rad "160" unit.

I agree. My SLP (re-packaged MotoRad) runs ~175°-180° on the highway.
