Vararam Intake Install
.. VR knows if they actually fix the issues, their customers will be all over them to replace older units..They would rather sell a sh!tty product and take the chance of losing a few customers than doing what they should..I will never buy another product from that company even if it really did give "up to 40 hp" (whatever)
... Some people have not had any issues with their unit and others are blinded by product loyalty and continue to defend them.. Do you think that with this many people complaining there's not an issue ?? I went back to stock and couldn't tell a difference in power at all.. I did lose the low RPM surging though.. Unless you drag race I don't think you gain much anyway.. I think it would be really hard to feel a few tenths of a second over a quarter mile.. Just my opinion though..

I guess I'll wait now..

Is the Vararam perfect? Maybe not all of them are.
But almost no performance/aftermarket part is perfect or quite up to factory OEM levels for fitment/overall quality, if that's all that one is seeking then they probably shouldn't be modifying their car in the first place.
The board does have an awesome Appearance/Detailing section for that type of Corvette enthusiast though.

Maybe you can't feel a few tenths of a second (that's an eternity
in racing by the way) but others out there can feel even a half a tenth of a second difference from one pass to the next so statements such as that can be quite confusing to the true racer.
Just because you haven't had a problem yet, does not mean you never will have one warp, shift and suck dirt. I would be knocking on every type of wood I could find with those statements.

Or maybe it won't happen at all.
They sell their product for an average of 300-400+ per unit. Sure they had R&D costs but I'm guessing those have long been paid off. What do you suspect it costs them to make each unit at this point in material? 10 bucks? Maybe 15? There are always some overhead costs but for all we know it's 2-3 people working out of their homes with some Chinese manufacturer churning these out. They will quickly replace any unit if asked. Why? Good customer service? Maybe, but it might also be that it is just so cheap to make they just throw the complainers a new unit and for the most part that shuts them up. For them to "fix" the design will mean more R&D costs and then they would probably need to offer current customers something toward the new designed air-box so in the end it is probably much more profitable to keep selling the same unit and deal with the 10 threads per year that pop up bashing them and the 100 or so units they have to swap out yearly. Even after everything we have seen about all the issues with the product the product continues to sell and they continue to make lots of money. IMHO that is why the design has not changed.

They wouldn't need to redo R&D for simply making better installation instructions (maybe even include a DVD of a basic install to help people get into the ballpark), and an improved fastening system for holding the two main pieces together; we're not talking rocket science here.
I'd decided to take the time to improve my unit's overall fit instead of opting for another brand simply because of how well the Vararam performs. I've always owned very fast cars, and I fully understand the true value of a tenth-of-a-second. I also believe an enthusiast should always make the time to check filters and fluids as often as possible, and anyone who can't be bothered with cognizant maintenance should stay away from performance mods altogether.
