Default New and Improved Bushing Kit

Pfadt is proud to announce our new and improved Polyurethane Control Arm Bushing Kit!

The OEM control arm bushing in the Corvette are large and soft, which leads to a steering response that leaves much to be desired and a loss of camber when you need it most. With the Pfadt Control Arm Poly Kit installed in your Corvette you will find the razor sharp steering response that you expect and the suspension control that you need.

This new kit features hard anodize aluminum sleeves for improved durability, lubrication retention and lower friction! With the combination of the micro-pores on the surface of the hard anodizing and the new grooved bushings, the Pfadt Poly Control Arm Kit can retain more of our specially formulated grease then ever before! The system is now more effective at continuously re-lubricating the working surfaces for silky smooth operation! The front upper control arm bushings now utilize a retaining plate and snap ring to keep the control arm from flexing during track use. To make installation even easier many of the bushings are a two piece design!

This kit is currently available for immediate delivery for the C5 and C6 Corvette, the C6 Z06 kit will be available shortly! Please give us a call with any questions!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Contrary to the animation the kit does take some time to install. I typically tell people to plan on a weekend to change them in your garage on jack stands. If you have a press it speeds things up quite a bit and some cold beverages to give your friends makes it more fun. I suggest a reward system... One "cold beverage" per control arm changed.

We do have bushings for factory sway bars but, we do not make them for the C6 Z06 sway bars.

The reason for this is because the factory C6 Z06 sway bar package is not properly balanced, oversteer prone. We recommend replacing your Z06 rear sway bar with a factory Z51 sway bar. We do make a C6 Z51 sway bar bushing kit. This kit retails for $30 and can be found here.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I can help with!

For a home garage guy, what is your recommendation for extracting the original rubber bushings?

This really depends on how well your garage is equipped.

This is the best option. Pressing the factory bushings out works very well. You do need to be farily creative with your makeshift press fixtures. It is possible to press out every bushing.

If you have a large vice then you can get some of them this way. Same thing as the press get creative with your fixtures. The front uppers, and rear uppers on a C6 Z06, are very easy with a bench vice. Simply grab the outside ear in the vice, grab the a-arm and rotate one full revolution, then pull and rock the arm back and forth. With this method it only takes about one minute per bushing. I have not be able to get every bushing in our bench vice.

For those that don't have a press or a bench vice, or have one they simply can't get with one of the above methods. Then your new best friend is a torch. This method is pretty surefire but, it is not much fun. With this method the general idea is to heat the aluminum housing and center sleeve until the rubber starts to bubble. Then using a drift push out the center sleeve. Then with a screwdriver pry out the old bushing. During this process take car not to burn yourself, welders gloves are a lifesaver. I usually keep a bucket of water to throw the sleeves and bushings into once they are out, this cools them off so you can handle them later and also contains the sticky mess from the burnt rubber.

My suggestion is go by even a relatively inexpensive press. They don't take up much room in the garage and if you are like me, constantly tinkering, you will be surprised how often it comes in handy!

Hope that was helpful. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can help with!

Unfortunately we do not offer an endlink kit at this time. I will put this on my project list to design a set for factory sway bars.

If you are interested in a set please send me a quick email, josh@pfadtracing.com, and I will contact you when these are available. Also, with increased interest I will be able to give the project higher priority.

cheers!
