Default Question about front deflector

Hello,
My front-center air deflector is missing the two connectors (some sort of clamp I assume) that connects it to the side deflectors that make it a solid piece. I was wondering if these pieces can be bought individually? if not, do they come with the side deflectors or the center? I don't want to order the new piece and not have a way to connect them

Thanks

My '05 only has a standard plastic Christmas tree pin that is inserted through the hole where the two pieces overlap. It is similar to the type that is used to fasten the splash guards and inner wheel-wells, etc. It does a poor job of clamping the two pieces together. The pin only survives maybe 3 heavy driveway scrapes before breaking and it usually rips the rubber apart so the hole doesn't function anymore.

Good to know.

So do you suggest trying to fabricate an alternative of sorts? or just leave it out and hope for the best

I want to make sure my baby can breathe.

The three pieces of my air dam haven't been connected together for three years and I have had no issues.

I broke one side as the hole for the pin tore. I've left it alone so far. It might reconsider if I were regularly above 120 mph.

I was wondering if it was intentionally designed to come apart easily so that when it is hit hard, it seperates at the overlap rather than tearing off somewhere else

The plastic push pins do not come with any of the three airdam parts.

The "Christmas Tree" plastic fasteners are available at most national parts houses like Advance and Auto Zone.

If you've ripped these out you have no doubt done some serious scraping of the front end! If that's the case, replacement fasteners won't work in the destroyed air deflector(s).

I'm not sure how important the connecting push pins are to the middle air dam as the new side dams are shorter and no longer connect the center piece.

Good point. I'm trying to haing on to the full sized ones for as long as possible. Don't want it to look buck toothed.

You may want to check out my post in the general section. The orginal parts have not been discontinued. The mistake that GM made has now been corrected.

To answer the OP, the fasteners are available at any GM dealer. My dealer just gave me a handful when I bought my replacement air dams.

Get em at Lowes 39 cents. In the plastic drawers in the 'fastener' aisle. Even have "for GM products" on bag. Get a couple bucks worth cause they will break after repeated driveway smacks.
