Though 240 isn't terrible, you could replace the LS3 oil cooler with a Z06 oil cooler which is larger, to help keep the temp down

Put some header wrap on the pipes that pass over the axles and heat shields on the exhaust housings. That will bring your tranny temps down

Actually, the LS3 A6 does not come with an engine oil cooler at all. Only the manual transmission Z51 models get the engine oil cooler.

I added the Z06 engine oil cooler to my car and it dropped engine oil temperatures 30 degrees.

The Z06 engine oil cooler is a bolt on upgrade.

Cost was about $700. Here is the parts list:

Part Number: 15803358
Cooling - Oil cooler - Oil cooler Oil cooler - 7.0 liter 2006 - 2008
1 ea

Part Number: 15848590
Cooling - Oil cooler - Oil cooler pipe Oil cooler pipe - 7.0 liter 2006 - 2008
1 ea

Part Number: 25857217
Radiator Air Deflector/Baffle - 7.0 liter 2006 - 2008
1 ea

Part Number: 11515755
Bolt
5 ea

Part Number: 15712465
Cooling - Oil cooler - Hose - Clamp
1 ea

What degree of difficulty & time required to install the oil cooler. Have a '08 LS3 w/manual trans. Oil temp is consistantly around 230 degs.

Figure a day for the job. I put my car on race-ramps in the garage.

The biggest pain is replacing the shroud with the Z06 part. The only difference in the shrouds is the holes drilled into it for the oil cooler mounting bolts and the lines. It is possible to drill your own holes in the existing shroud, but I decided to spend the $25 on a pre-drilled Z06 shroud.

Running the lines is the other hassle. I managed to run them without loosening the exhaust or removing the inner fender.

My car was running an oil temerature of 230 degrees on the Interstate cruising at 78 MPH during 100 degree in the shade outside temperature. After adding the cooler, running in the same conditions oil temperatures are running 198 to 201 degrees.
