Default oil temp sensor location

On an LS3 where is the oil temp sensor located. I assume it is in the oil pan.

My temp is 230F on the road, the same as my Harley which has the sensor in the oil pan.

Kinda a neat they run at the same temp.

I thought that to be the oil PRESSURE sensor.

The ECT is located by #1 & 2 on the head.

I would have thought the engine oil temp, if it is read, would be on the oil pan where the oil level would be checked?

Looking at my Helms for my LS2, I do NOT see an ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE sensor listed.

May I ask to confirm that the OP is asking for Engine Oil Temperature, transmission temperature, or Engine Coolant Temperature? Is Engine Oil Temperature something new added for the LS3?

A little more digging and I found this:

To remove the sensor
Jack up car
Remove RH tire and wheel assembly
Remove RH front wheelhouse rear liner.

That gives you access to the oil temp sensor. However, it is referring to the 7.0 L engine. I don't see it on the 6.2L engine.

Sorry, that's it. I'm tapped out of data access. My Service information DVD gave me access to 2008 information and that's all I could find.

I believe the oil temp sensor is only with the Z51 and Z06. In the LS2, the sensor is located at the left rear of the block where the oil cooler lines enter rignt above the oil filter. (Wasn't easy to find in the service manual - I only found it in an engine removal step.)

I was under the impression that it was in the oil pan just below and fwd of the starter.
On drivers side by the filter and oil cooler lines there is no temp sender.

I NEVER give up! This is from a 2007 LS2 Helms picture.

This shows the oil temp sensor

This shows the sensor in relation to the oil filter!

Take that HELMS!

Mine had a plug held on with 2 bolts, which I removed to install the oil cooler. #3 no temp sender there.
On the pass side there is a plug in the oil pan that works level and temp, at least that my impression.

That's the one! Passenger side, under started on he pan itself. The two lines in the pic are the tranny cooler lines. No screws or bolts hold it in, it threads directly into the pan. Same as my 2005 LS2 Z51 when I removed it.
