Default Re-posting exhaust question

I couldn't find my original post, so I'm asking again.

I may be purchasing a late Z06 exhaust from the H-pipe back for my 2005 Z51 coupe. Will the transition to 3 inch pipe from 2-1/2 inch pipe need to happen between the H-pipe and axle, or should it happen behind the axle? I guess part of the question is will the 3 inch pipe clear the transmission.

I'm assuming that the muffler deminsions are the same.

Thanks again for your input.

Robert

The Z06 3" over axle pipes neck down to 2 1/2" at the mufflers. So the trick is to cut the mufflers off your stock o/a pipes and weld on the Z06 mufflers. Might be able to use some of TorcTite clamps in lieu of welding.

My Z06 system is necked down after the X-pipe and in front of the axle. I have no clearance issues on a manual, automatic may be different.
