Default ls3 RPM limits?

so the stock limiter is at 6600.
After a cam swap with aftermarket valvesprings and retainers, what is the SAFE limit to reve to? 7k? 7200? at that point what is the weak link? what is the highest some one is reving the ls3?

With dual valve springs and titanium retainers I raced my LS2 for over a year and usually shifted anywhere between 7000 and 7200 and never had any problems.

7k shouldn't be much of a problem depending on cam aggressiveness. I went to 6800rpm with mine and never had any issue at all. One thing to remember though is the higher you rev it, the earlier you will be replacing valvesprings. Just make sure the harder you beat on the car the more proactive you are with maintenance.

The limit if there is one is with the lifters. Too much spring and they calapse and too little you get float. A fully built forged LS3 will rev out to 10k. Caddy lifters allow 8k if the valvetrane is light enough.

The issue is that the intake manifold choices are tuned to low 6k and cant be raised without shorter runners. A carbed intake makes the power band run higher as does solid roller set-ups.

Stock bottom ends will eventually give up the ghost north of 7k. Asking what people rev to is counting non-failures and failure statistics require you to count motors that 'failed' which few people will admit if they actually raise the rev limiter to test it.

The C6Z revs to 7k or 7200k stock doesnt it?

I also thought the LS3 and LS7 valvetrain were basically the same from springs, to valves, to lifters. Is this not 100% accurate?

The LS2 needs aftermarket parts to safely run 7k or higher, but I thought a LS3 could just get a rev limiter bump.
