Got a good question
The car in your avatar appears to be a ZR1 - is that what you're putting them into??? If so, that could be problematic right there, although I'm pretty sure the BCM programming for the seats should be the same in that as the lower level Vettes.
What year are the seats you're putting into the car, and are they out of a regular C6 or a Z06??? If they are out of a 2005 and you're putting them (specifically the passenger seat) into a newer C6, you may have problems.
If you're putting them into something other than a ZR1, what year and model are you putting them into?
Do they have side airbags, and do the original seats in the car you're putting them into have side airbags?
Did the car they came out of have the memory function, and does the car you're putting them into also have memory? If not, that could be an issue - there's a memory function box in the driver's seat for cars that have that option.
I put some seats out of a C6 into my C6 Z06. The Z06 only comes with a manual passenger seat, and neither side has the adjustable lumbar and bolsters. My wife wanted full 6-way power for her passenger seat, and we both wanted the lumbar and bolster adjustments.
The seats I got had been in an accident car, but I was told the airbags had not deployed. However, when I put the seats in my Z06 I had an airbag light (but I never had a seat belt light like you're experiencing).
I finally figured out that the seat belt pretensioners had fired. I took the pretensioners off my original Z06 seats and put them on the new seats, and all is well.
Here's a picture of a good pretensioner on the left, and the one that has been activated on the right:
In the picture above, you can see that there is a long tube where the charge for the pretensioner is located. When it fires it pulls the seat belt receptacle latch down about 1-1/2 or 2 inches to tighten the seat belt in preparation for an impact. You can see how that corrugated plastic is curved on the unit on the right due to the cable inside it having been pulled down and shortened to tighten (pretension) the seat belt.
When that charge has fired it can't be "reset", the entire assembly must be replaced. I believe they are about $120 each from forum vendor Gene Culley.
Again, I never had the seat belt light when I had the units that had been activated. I had an airbag light, but the seat belt light went out when I latched my seat belts. When I installed the good pretensioners from my other seats, the airbag light went out.
Good luck!!
Bob
