my 05 manual transmission has never been a fun transmission to shift it is far to notchy. I changed to valoline mecon, but is still is not very good. Has anybody tried red line or royal purple or amsoil. what is the last word on this issue.
There is no last word. All three of the above products are great products rated within the top 5 of oils. I cant remeber the line off the top of my head but penzoil also makes a good one.

From: NJ..."the way I saw it, everyone takes a beating sometimes."
All the 3 you mentioned have been used by many with varying results. I switched to Amsoil and honestly can't tell much of a noticeable difference. I really don't think any fluids are going to make a drastic difference in shifting improvement.

thanks for the infomation, I will leave the valoline mecon in the trans. on the same subject do any of you blip the throttle when down shift. I have noticed you get a better down shift to second.
Note that I used the AMSOIL ATF for about 7k miles and it did not lose any viscosity during that period. I switched ot the Torque Drive as AMSOIL changed their primary recommendation for the Tremec from the ATF to the Torque Drive. Both are very similar fluids, but I wanted to try the Torque Drive before I started recommending it. For what its worth, I've used the ATF in my Z06 since 2004 without a problem.
