some of you may recall my recent posts concerning the loss of torque i experienced and not hitting the numbers i had hoped for with the install of my new cam. there was even an indication of a possible problem with the dyno pull since my peak torque was coming in at 5600 rpms. well since then i have put 500 miles on my car, gone through several heat cycles and been back to MTI Racing for another dyno run and final tune.today they invited back to watch and i just returned with the results.
i am very pleased with the results. 472/437. please take a look and let me know what you think. please note, this is with 3.90 gears..
Looks good and the torque peak is where it belongs.
How much more tuning was performed?
frankly i could not say. very little would be my answer. they did a total of 3 more pulls, a few seconds on his lap top and it was over. i think most of it was allowing the cam kit to break in a little and the dyno pull itself. again i think last time something was not right with the dyno pull. peak numbers were just not at correct rpms but all seems well now and the car really pulls hard!!
it feels great to finally have it all done and right.. ahhhhhhhhhhh
no offense to our z06 brothers but i can now fianlly take them on (at least the stock ones) and win.. and run pretty close to a stage 1 z06.
Any SAE numbers? My STD numbers were slightly higher...I believe around 10 rwhp/rwtq more.
sorry that is all i have. what gears are you running? my hp and tq were also abt 10 more each until i switched to the 3.90's.. i am estimating approx 560 hp at the crank..

Remember two things. The numbers are std. A Z06 runs 450 rwhp sae. I'll add a third thing. Driveline loss, even with mods, is still around 55 hp.

hmmmmm,, well then hopefully i can still at least run right along side a stock Z06.. that has been my goal all along. to have the same performance, save 20k and best of all,, do it stealthy.
i hope you do not have any more numbers or things to add that are going to take that away from me.

Ill have my numbers soon both std & SAE. I see with regularity that about
55-60 RWHP is lost through drive train losses. Yet when I talk to NON CF
folks I give them the Dyno reading + 60 RWHP. If I have 450 RWHP and they ask me what ya got in there I weould say a little over 500. Sound right ?

i have always allowed for an approximate loss of 15% thru the driveline for a manual tranny. i may be wrong but i think this is the so called "standard" expected loss. probably a bit more for an automatic tranny.
other members with much more experiemce than me may have different numbers. so i would have thought a car making 450rwhp would be making approximately 530 hp at the crank.
From: NJ..."the way I saw it, everyone takes a beating sometimes."
Glad you are finally happy with the results. It would be interesing to see the SAE numbers if you ever get a chance, but if not you have the car running the way you want and that's what matters. Don't get too caught up in trying to back calculate rwhp to bhp. It's a futile effort with no exact science to it. Good luck with the Zs. You should be able to scare a stock one but don't take them for granted. The 427 power curve is killer.

lol. yeah i just want to stay right along side him or pull away from him ever so slightly and have him wonder... "what the heck has he got in that thing?".. i have raced one before i added the cam and that sucker pulled like a son of a gun. so we will see what happens next time..

The midrange torque is killer on the Z. Even after they shift they can still be making about 400 HP if the driver takes advantage of the 7000 rpm redline.
His gears should help even the score, especially if the Z forgets to downshift as far as should.

You should be able to hang with the Z. You hp is there and with 390's it'll help close the gap because of the Z's bigger cubes and higher torque. Probable be a drivers race. Sounds like fun.

Yes, that would be a correct answer and an honest one at that. M6's are at 55 plus or minus a few, autos 65 plus or minus a few.
