Default Rear O2's question.

Well I just got my 1 7/8 longtubes in (Kooks) with my catless 3inch x-pipe for my 2009 corvette. Thing is I wont be able to get to a tunner for about another 2 weeks to shut off the rear O2's. I am told they are nothing more than for the cats, but since I wont have cats anymore will I be hurting anything else when I throw a code for them not being there anymore, and or should the car run ok?

Thanks for you help all.

Mark

Your car might run a little leaner as the O2 sensors will be sensing rich fuel. You should be alright though. I ran mine like that for a week or so waiting for a tune with no adverse affect. I just didnt hammer it all the time. I didnt even throw a code for about 2 or 3 days.

One problem of driving with a CEL from the rear O2 sensors is that the CEL is NOT like a Valentine 1, it doesn't tell you how many "threats" are present. You could throw a missfire code, a lean code, a braking system code or anynumber of codes and you would not be aware of the problem(s) since you are used to the CEL being on for the O2 sensor code.
