I have had my 2008 Z06 for only about a week. I have noticed that at low speeds driving in my residential area or coming to a stop light then taking back off that the car has a very loud "growl" like sound that comes from the car. Its only at very low speeds while accelerating from a stop or a near stop. Sounds like its coming from the transmission area......anyone else have this issue or anyone had this issue or know what it is?? If so, is it normal or does this need to be taken to dealer?

Very normal! I almost didn't buy my 2009 Z06 until I consulted the forum to find out that this issue is normal and is known as the "marbles in a can" syndrome. Just take off at a little higer rpm, and the noise should go away.
My 09 Z06 has no noise issues. I would have the dealer check it out. Since the car has a transaxle, it's difficult to tell if a noise is coming from the transmission or the differential, from the drivers seat.
The throw out bearing going bad would not pass metal to the inside of the transmission. Metal inside the transmission would come from internal transmission issues. I would send a trans oil sample in to the lab for analysis. Then change the trans oil and run it for a while and send another sample in.
Usually, noisy throw out bearings will go a long while before they disintegrate.
When you do decide to repair it, I would find a knowledgeable private shop that is not a Chevy dealer. Dealer overhead causes high labor rates and the best technicians leave after a few years.
Enjoy the car.
