If you purchase a crate LS3 and want around 600-650hp, carb'd, n/a, how much $$$ do you think would be involved in said buildup?
For example, 5k buys me a crate LS3. But 7k buys me a crate circle track 525 (which to my understanding is a sealed engine; not something I want to deal with), with 525hp.
If I dump, say, 7k at a base LS3, can it be easily bumped up to the desired hp range reliably?
The motor being sealed just means they use special bolts that make it obvious if the motor was taken apart which is against the rules. If u wanted to take it apart you could
650hp, all motor, no fuel injection? You're going to need quite the radical stroker setup to pull another 200-250 n/a horsepower out of it. That said, who you use as an engine builder will become a key ingredient in not only how much power you make, but how much you pay. I imagine tossing another 7k at it might get you there, but not by the hand of a premier builder.
$2500.00 will get you about 100 HP. You are looking for about 200. Do the math.
There is no set increment when it comes to hp per dollar. Remember that the more power you already make, the quicker the costs spiral when trying to make even more. It gets exponentially harder (more expensive) to continue finding extra ponies after more and more are realized.
