Has anybody had this message show up on there dic? and what is it? It has happened to me twice now, right after I filled up last night. I noticed the gas gauge needle went from full to empty, back to full. Weird? If anyone knows what it is and how to fix it please chime in. Also I'm out of warranty. I have an 05.
took my 05 in because it said service traction system and the dealer told me the right fuel level sensor was bad know this doesnt help but you are not alone with fuel tank problems.
Many people had the service completed as per the bulletin and the swap of the entire fuel pump assembly including the fuel level sensor did nothing. I just did this myself too since the pump itself went bad (boost-a-pump).
The level still goes up and down and didnt get fixed for me either with the levele sensor swap.
Live with it.

This is an old C5 problem as well. The cheap fix is to stay with top tier gasolines (Chevron, Shell) and to add a bottle of Techron. There are two different black colored bottles of Techron available at most auto parts stores. One is a Fuel Injector Cleaner and the other is a Fuel System Cleaner. The FSC seems to work better as it addresses the sulfer buildup on the Fuel Senders which causes the fuel gauge to read incorrectly (usually dropping to empty even when full or sometime reading full, then dropping to empty when you're really empty and too late to do anything about it). I usually use Chevron premium and add a bottle of Techron FSC about every 4th tank or so. Have never had the problem in my 2007 C6 13k miles and have not had the problem on my 2001 C5 for over a year now (45k miles). Seems to effect other GM vehicles as well.
