Ok this will be my first time attemping to do a header swap. I plan on doing this on jack stands. What tools will I need, and anything that can make it easyier. What should I expect to run into attemping this? Do you think I should even attempt this is the real question? What is the hardness on a scale 1-10. Anyone in the odessa/midland tx area to help . Any advice would be great. Im getting texas speed headers.
I don't know anything about the Texas Speed headers, but the LG Pros were the easiest header system I've ever installed. Just need basic hand tools, ie wrenches, sockets, etc... You will need a torque wrench. I drilled a hole in the plate above the headers and ran the O2 wires above. I made the hole right above the O2 sensors. I'm in Texas, but just a little too far..LOL
If you've done any work on cars, it's not hard. Do a search, there is a lot of good information and tips on how to do it. I agree with the first poster, it's the easiest header install I've ever done. My 2001 Camaro was by far the hardest I've ever done. You'll do fine.
I am by all means no pro.. but I just installed some 1 7/8 kooks on my 09 vette in about 2 1/2 hours and was really taking my time. I did have my friend with me to help hold things.
If you have ever changed your plugs, you should have no problem doing your header install

Well just got off the phone with LG and looks like im going to have them install the street headers and tune for what I think is a good deal. Also what RWHP should I expect to be at with headers , vararam, and borla exhaust after the tune? Hope headers is worth the money ha.
Thanks LG
The header install should be rather easy. I did my on jack stands, no problem. I removed the H-pipe first and then unbolted the cats from the headers, then unbolted the headers and removed them from the bottom. I reused the OEM header gasket. I asked about this and was told that the header gasket was reusable, this saved me some money. Slid the headers in from underneath, just aligned the bolt holes and reinstalled the bolts, then torque to specs.
The only problem I ran into was the O2 sensors in the case iron heads. I could not get mine out. I have an 07 LS-2 motor. So I got out my saws all and cut the headers in half and removed the O2 sensors that way. Just make sure that you have your O2 extension cords, because the O2 sensors will not reach without them if you are using Long Tubes.
