Default which brakes to get..

well it's finally time for some new brakes..i got some major squealing going on..and it kind of embarrasing..i was wondering which ones do i get that won't cost me an arm and a leg..Thanks guys..

What is you intended use? Track, street, canyon carving, etc? If street only many here like ceramic pads for quiet operation and minimal dusting.

well she's my DD..and i do like to hit the the track every now and again..Which brand name is a good one..and also where is a good place to buy from..

Buy street pads and swap out the pads for track use. There's no such thing as a street/track pad IMHO.

Hawk ceramic or the GM ceramic pads make little noise or dust and are rotor friendly. For a more aggressive street pad I'd look at Carbotech. I run the Carbotech Bobcats on my other car.

For track pads you can look at Carbotech Panthers but I read rave reviews of the Cobalt pads on the racing forum.

There are several Forum vendors that sell GM ceramics--Gene Culley, Parts Taxi, et al. If you're looking for Hawk ceramics, other Forum vendors such as DarinU, Hinson, East Coast Performance, et al

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range (200°F-1350°F+). Carbotech XP8™ is the first of our racing compounds. Extremely high fade resistance, very rotor friendly with 100% non-corrosive dust. Excellent as a front brake pad for lighter ITA, ITB, ITC, SRF, H4, H5, and other cars that weigh less than 2,400lbs. Default Hawk Rotors

I have a C6 that had brakes that would squeel to a stop. I just installed the Hawk Quiet Slot Rotors along with the Hawk ceramic pads. What an unbelievable difference. You can hear a pin drop when I come to a stop. No braking sounds at all!! Stops on a dime. Well worth the little extra money. Very minimal brake dust also.
