Not true - depends on where you make the 'conversion'. Several of us have Z mufflers on A6s ... I'm one.
If you 'neck' the pipe down right in front of the muffler where the pipe diameter becomes smaller anyway you can use your stock over-axle pipes.
The problem with Zo6 Dual mode is to use the 3" over the axle pipe you have to modify it,
and still end up going down to 2.5 at muffler, you are better off getting a Npp set up and still have the best of both, quiet and loud!!! and not have rattles due to close fit on A6.
I have NPP's and tried Zo6 Dual mode, it was not worth the aggrivation!!!
I also have an 2006 A6 and I went with the Factory NPP which I purchased used. Install took one hour and was very easy. I also installed the mild2wild in a box. Install for the mild2wild in a box took a little longer. I think I have the best of both worlds. I would not change a thing very happy with the setup. Leif
