Default 06 Auto exhaust

Wht are the recommendations from you guys for the best dual mode exhaust? I like a bit quiet on the highway but loud around town.

There are only three choices for a dual mode exhaust for a '05 to '08 C6.
'09 and '10 are very limited due to a change in brackets.

Factory NPP New or Used; Direct bolt in for 05 to 08 C6 A4, A6, M6.

Factory Z06 New or used; Must modify from 3" to 2.5" somewhere between cats and muffler. Won't fit A4 or A6.

BB Fusion; Aftermarket, check with Vendors.

Not true - depends on where you make the 'conversion'. Several of us have Z mufflers on A6s ... I'm one.
If you 'neck' the pipe down right in front of the muffler where the pipe diameter becomes smaller anyway you can use your stock over-axle pipes.

The problem with Zo6 Dual mode is to use the 3" over the axle pipe you have to modify it,
and still end up going down to 2.5 at muffler, you are better off getting a Npp set up and still have the best of both, quiet and loud!!! and not have rattles due to close fit on A6.
I have NPP's and tried Zo6 Dual mode, it was not worth the aggrivation!!!

I also have an 2006 A6 and I went with the Factory NPP which I purchased used. Install took one hour and was very easy. I also installed the mild2wild in a box. Install for the mild2wild in a box took a little longer. I think I have the best of both worlds. I would not change a thing very happy with the setup. Leif

Agree with the recommendations for the NPP. I installed them on my 06 A6 and love them. Below is the thread on my install.
