Hi,
I am looking seriously at which intake to buy for my dads LS2.
I am looking at AIRAID because it's cheap, I don't need underhood bling I need performance and I don't need dirt in his engine (vararam ahem)
My question is: Do I need an MAF sensor and dyno tune also? he already has exhaust but no other mods.
I see kits to convert the LS2 to LS3/LS7 intake system. Dubbed "killer bee" conversion is this bs or worth the money?
The idea is to get the install and proper MAF/tune done so when he goes to start the car he notices a little surprise bump in power and sound He lives between 2 houses and 25 cars so I should be able to sneak it in there.
Thanks,
Nico

Nicolas,
I just installed an Airaid on my 05 and It perked up the throttle responce immediately ,NO more hesitation ! No tune or new Maf needed ! It deepened the tone of my exhaust ( American Thunders from Flowmaster ) and it does breath much better ! I know there are many others to choose from but this one works for me and the cost is reasonable and easy to install with good picture instructions.
Did you look at AFe in your search? I went with them for my Dodge diesel due to their filtration. The place I had some work done, sells a lot of Araid but they prefer the AFe. Not sure how the two compare in getting cold air to the LS2. Seems the only way is to scoop it from below.
From: NJ..."the way I saw it, everyone takes a beating sometimes."
I don't think the factory MAF is an issue till around 500rwhp. Even then it's not so much of an issue, more as an upgrade for potentially more power and tuning ability.
I put on the SLP Blackwing and tuned my 07 it but still have a hesitation off the line. Any ideas? Is it that i just need headers or what?
Think of the internal combustion engine as an airpump--because from an engineering perspective, that's essentially what it is=The more air going in, the more air going out. (simplification) That said, half the effort should be exerted in both directions. A good set of LT headers and exhaust system helps ANY engine to "breathe" better. Beyond that, getting it tuned once these steps have taken place makes a lot of difference in the efficiency of this airpump process.
