Default service active handling message

What do you guys thing. I have an 05 C6 that had the service active handling message problem resolved last year at a GM dealership. They did the GM wire connection fix under the steering wheel column. Now the message is back, so I took it back to the same dealership and this time they charged me $150 to locate the problem. Now they want $1000. to replace the steering wheel position sensor. 5.5 hours labor and $100 for the part. Does this sound like a legitimate fix?

I had a nightmare with my AH as well. My opinion is that your dealer is full of crooks. If you were getting that repair done under warranty they could not smoke that many hours for that repair. I had that part replaced and the tech was done in 15 min!! (yes it was the swps)

I say you used them(payed150) to find out what it was. Now pay 100 for the part (roughly 80 is what it costs) and take it somewhere that wont try to hose you.

Oh and by the way, let them know why you are not getting the repair done there.

hell buy the part at another dealer.

Try to call a warranty company(gmpp) and ask them how many labor hrs they pay for that repair. They should tell you as they want you to know how costly repairs can be if you dont have warranty. Take that to the dealer as an aid.

Sorry for the long response

It sounds like a rip off to me. I'm not so sure that's what the problem is. Maybe a second opinion would help. Maybe the clip needs re-worked or repositioned.
