Of course, here we are 2500 miles from home (NCM Anniversary Celebration), 5 pm on a Saturday and Dealers are closed until Tuesday.
The tranny seems to be shifting ok now but is running a little warm (because of no lockup TC?). Everything else APPEARS to be ok but the SEL is still on.
I'm wondering if I'm being stupid to try to head home at this point or wait until Tuesday (which totally f*** things up for the rest of our trip!).
Our plans called for leaving BG in the morning, heading for Indianapolis.
BTW hope you guys have had fun..

Searched online and found an exploded diagram view of my transmission. The Internal mode switch basically just lets the systems know which gear its in. Its part of the control valve
assembly.
Took it to the local GMC dealer and they said its an internal transmission issue and will be covered under the 5yr 100k powertrain warranty! I'm bringing it back in on Monday and they will have it for about 3 days.

From a pontiac G8 forum..Same tranny" Summary was a solenoid had to be replaced, mechanic said a "shaving" caused it to fail..Another owner had same problem, took it to a dealer but the problem had cleared itself..

After 2500+ miles, 8 days and countless start ups since the issue first came up, I'm happy to report we made it home without further incident. The SEL went out the next day and the car performed flawlessly since.
Still, since it's still under warranty, going to have it looked at this week.
Thanks to all for the suggestions and comments.

Glad you made it back without incident.
