Default Contemplating headers and tune....

I currently have a C6 Z06 with BB Fusion exhaust and contemplating headers and a tune. I am looking for the most agressive sound possible with my current setup, but will welcome any hp gain as a result. From what I understand there is no need to go to an a different mid pipe? Which headers would you recommend? I am not willing to run without cats, but am willing to go high flow.

depends on what you want to do later in terms of mods.

everyone has their opinions...I'm a big fan of the LG super pro's, 1 7/8's plus catted xpipe. they are a great setup. I told you you would see about 30+ with a good tune. I would get a cold air intake as well.

good luck.

Are all catted xpipes created equal? If not do you have a suggestion on which one to go with? What type of $$$ am I looking at if I go headers/catted xpipe/cold air/tune? Thanks!

lg and Kooks make a nice header and x-pipe. I would go with either Kooks or LG pro longtubes with a catted x-pipe. All x-pipes are similar yet some have different cats depending on which header you get. If you are planning to go Head/Cam down the road then the 1 7/8 primarys are for you. If not then get the 1 3/4 with a 3 inch into 2.5 catted x-pipe.

As far as intake goes you can get a honker which is around $400. I have one on my car and I have not had any problems. Adds about 10-15 rwhp.

All together with the headers/catted x-pipe/CAI/tune you are looking at around $2300-2500. With that setup you should pickup around 40 rwhp and make around 375-380 rwhp. Good luck

I actually have a Z06 so I am assuming then it would go into a 3" x-pipe and I would be somewhere around around 480rwhp? Thanks for the info!

ooo Yeah haha I didn't see that you have a C6 Z06. I envy you for that

Yeah you should go either Kook's or LG pro 1 7/8 with a full 3 inch catted X-pipe. A Halltech intake with a ported Intake/TB would be a great setup.

All of this and you should make around 490-505 rwhp. That would be VERY fast. It would still cost around $2500. Good luck

Thanks again, I am assuming that price is not with installation and tune?

That price is all the parts and the tune

Price Breakdown

-$1700 headers
-$500 intake
-$500 tune

So between $2500-2800. It really depends on where you go and what parts you get.

I went the header/intake/tune route with my C5....and decided not to do in on my C6. The added horsepower is always nice. But, moding is a never ending spiral...because, after a few weeks of the added power, it feels normal so you want more. As you increase the HP you start havingother PITA problems. For me adding LT headers was when I crossed the line that wasn't worth it. After the header install I was constantly dealling with intermitent o2 sensor issues that were really a major PITA. I was never able to fully solve it. Also, when my tranny blew...the shop charged me a few hundred dollars extra for the installation because the had to deal with the headers.

Do what you like. It is fun to mod...but for this car I decided to leave the drivetrain stock.

If you want an agressive sound, consider doing a cam swap rather than headers. The muffler swap will make your car louder and a cam would give you a meaner idle and be a little louder than stock too. You can get to over 500 rwhp with the stock manifolds on a swap. If your ultimate target is RWHP > 520, get the the 1 7/8" LG headers and do a cam.

you really can't go wrong with american, kooks, or LG....I guess it comes down to price.

I bought my LG super pro's at carlisle at an "stupid not to buy" price.

happy shopping.
